Café Kitsuné

After a busy holiday season, I’m so glad I had a bit of time to head home and catch up with old friends.  Reuniting with my photography genius Brianna (who did most of the photography for the blog over the summer) was one of the best moments!  After having visited the coffee shop in Paris two summers ago, I was told that Café Kitsuné had opened a shop in Montreal as well.  Since I had yet to pay a visit, it was the perfect time.  Located just west of St. Laurent on Prince Arthur, the quaint little cafe has an eclectic feel with an enormous and awe inspiring KITSUNE light along the back wall; it can’t go unnoticed from the street. Butcher block counters and tables were of course my favourite element and gave a cozy woodsy feel to the place.  With a couple warm lattes in hand and my favourite blanket scarf wrapped around me, the cold winter weather outside became that much more enjoyable! Grazing

I was headed east before a delicious family dinner for Easter dinner.  I’ve been having lots of trouble concentrating at home, so why not use that as another excuse to grab a drink somewhere new and get some work done while I’m at it? Goat Coffee Co. has been on my go-to list for a few months now and I just needed the right opportunity to check it out.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect but at first glance I could tell that their industrial, rustic, rugged vibe was right up my alley; the massive lit-up sign will also captivate any onlooker! I went for my classic, a chai latte.  The ginormous cup was also a huge bonus because I needed some warming up!  As I’ve mentioned so many times, I prefer a chai latte that is less on the sweet side where you can really taste the spices.  This one not only got the taste down pat (lots of cinnamon – YUM!) but I also loved that each sip left a little tickle …

Balzac’s

OK, I’ve been slacking a bit here; the majority of my posts are coffee shops where I’ve been spending my days furiously reading, writing, and studying away.  With only one week of school left, it will all hopefully be over before I know it.  But today I will be adding to the coffee shop repertoire that I’ve been writing about so frequently. As most of you may know or come to see from my posts, I’m not the biggest fan of chains.  There are ones I totally approve of like my all-time favourite David’s Tea, but Starbucks is definitely off my go-to list unless I’m in a mad emergency at the library and can’t spare the time to walk outside before getting back to the books.  But Balzac’s is by far my favourite coffee shop chain! The often discreet venues of Balzac’s make it a little mysterious when venturing to their locations.  Before I even knew, I could easily walk by without realizing the cool place inside; it’s not like you have to walk through …

Montreal is awaiting…

A girl’s day in Montreal was all I needed to round off this weekend back home.  Not only was it an awesome afternoon downtown with my best friend but we have decided to team up for the summer to bring a ton more excitement to this blog!  Her awesome camera skills, my writing, and our shared interest in exploring the city will all be documented here in full.  In the meantime, we brainstormed, got coffee (and hot chocolates), and pizza for the perfect afternoon out on the town. It was a bit of a throwback to being in Milan when I heard Club Monaco had opened a new store and café on Saint-Catherine.  Just like every big brand name, in Milan, designers all have their own cafes named after them and serving up little delights; so this was kinda cool to be seeing back home.  The new store itself was eloquently decorated with beautiful tiled floors, glass walls in vintage-y framing and racks of their stunning clothes but it was downstairs that this café was …

The Studying Spots

First of all, how it is November already?  I’m past halfway through the semester which is unbelievable, but this also means I’ve been writing on my blog for three months now.  Kinda crazy.  Although I’m no technical whiz, I’m trying to develop my blog even more both visually and in terms of content and I’m going to be putting even more effort into this in the coming weeks;  so keep your eyes peeled! As for today, I’m writing from another adorable café on College Street as I like to do on my Sunday afternoons.    I’m a huge fan of getting out of my regular ol’ apartment walls in order to get a change of scenery and avoid and distractions (aka my kitchen).  To those who don’t believe me, I’m amazed at how much more work I can get done with the mellow background music and with many other dedicated people around the table working away; far better than a silent library and Starbucks. Instead of going into detail, I’d rather show you the awesome little …
