Juicy Juice

It’s been a while since we’ve seen this juicing and juice trend on the rise but at the same time I can’t believe it was one year ago that I first go on board.  Last fall while coming back from a tempo practice at Mount Pleasant, I noticed an adorable little shed-like boutique taking shape.  It caught my eye with its wood panelling and bright white paint; it left a little mark in my mind so I made the conscientious effort to go by there again and take a closer look.  With a sign that said opening soon and a website to follow, I quickly looked it up to find out the details of this new storefront.  That little house is now known by Torontonians and all my friends from elsewhere as Greenhouse Juice Co. in which I have shared and gushed about their juices and success. Although I’ve never tried a true juice cleanse, whenever I needed a long walk and a healthy treat along the way, this was the place I go.  Their …

Falling for Fall

I was never a particular fan of fall as a kid; it was no longer shorts or pool season and not quite time to bring out the skis.  Having neither one or the other was always a dilemma.  But with time, just like many other things, I have learnt to appreciate much more about this awesome season. 1.  Layering Up. I feel like for the first time in months, I can take a deep breath of the freshest air imaginable.  No more pollen flying about and not cold enough yet to …

Apples on Apples on Apples…

Fall is in the air!  And with fall come all the seasonal fruits and veggies that come in with the harvest including squash, pumpkin, and my personal favourite apples!  With bags of Macintosh apples going for pennies, I’ve been keeping my fridge stocked!  I’m sure I’ll be sharing more of my favourite fall foods but apples are the first thing I dive for in the fall. Probably the simplest of all but a personal favourite is homemade applesauce.  Although it can get tedious at times with peeling and cutting, it’s sooo worth it.  My mum would always make this for us after a big apple picking trip and I’d have it with everything.  My perfect version of applesauce has nothing but apples and water with soft chunks for an added element of texture.  Simply slice up and peel apples to fill a pot and place on the stovetop with a very thin layer of water on the bottom.  Put on full heat until the water boils and then bring down to a simmer.  Stir the …
